Link Up National YouTube Video

Link Up National is a partnership with the Weil Music Institute (WMI) at Carnegie Hall (NYC).  In this 2013–2014 season we will be entering our fourth year of Link Up, where we are among more than 50 partner orchestras from Alaska to Florida, as well as in Canada, Spain, and Japan.

Carnegie Hall has developed three programs: The Orchestra Rocks, The Orchestra Sings, and The Orchestra Moves. The songs and hands-on music curriculum contained in these programs teach about the different elements of music, orchestral repertoire and instruments.  At no cost to the orchestra, Carnegie Hall provides program materials - including teacher guides, student materials, concert scripts, and concert visuals - smartly designed to engage students and teachers in musical learning and exploration.

Link Up is a full-year interactive program designed for 3rd to 5th graders, who learn the music on recorder, violin, or sing.  At the end of the school year all the local partner schools come together to perform a final concert along with our orchestra.  The students perform from their seats with the orchestra as they follow the visuals project on a screen above the stage.  The Sacramento Philharmonic recruits the partner schools, raises the funds to provide instruments to the students, and produce the final concert.  Our Philharmonic Link Up program has, over the past three years, reached nearly 4,000 students and continues to be a favorite musical experience for all.
